About AMG Industries

AMG Industries is the premier market-entry consultancy bridging the gap between North American capital and the untapped mineral wealth of the Horn of Africa. Based in Hargeisa with a global reach, we specialize in de-risking high-potential investments in Somaliland. We provide the regulatory roadmap, government relations, and operational infrastructure that allow international mining companies to secure a "first-mover" advantage in one of the world’s last great geological frontiers.

About The Role

We need a sharp, analytical mind to serve as our "radar" in Hargeisa. The Policy Analyst will monitor the shifting tides of regulation, clan dynamics, and government sentiment. You are not just reporting news; you are interpreting why it matters to a foreign mining company. You will work directly with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MoEM) to track license applications and identify potential bottlenecks before they become problems.

Daily Required Tasks
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Track all gazetted and non-gazetted changes in the Mining Code, Tax Law, and Labor Law.

  • Stakeholder Mapping: Maintain a live database of key decision-makers, clan elders, and influencers in target exploration zones (Sanaag, Awdal).

  • Intelligence Briefing: Write concise weekly briefs for our international clients summarizing political risks, security updates, and economic trends.

  • Due Diligence: Conduct background checks on local partners and vendors to ensure client compliance with anti-corruption standards.

  • Ministry Liaison: Attend public consultations and ministry meetings to represent AMG’s interests and gather intel.

What We're Looking For

Experience :

3+ years

  • Education: Degree in Political Science, Law, Economics, or International Relations.

  • Local Knowledge: Deep understanding of Somaliland’s political landscape, clan structures, and the "unwritten rules" of local business.

  • Language: Native fluency in Somali and professional-level fluency in English (written and spoken).

  • Skills: Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear, actionable bullet points.

  • Integrity: Uncompromising ethical standards and discretion when handling sensitive client data.
